District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Patiala Kumar Amit today directed the Health Department to ensure each and every COVID-19 positive patient with co-morbidity to be kept in level-3 health care (Rajindra Hospital) for better care.
Reviewing the COVID-19 situation during a special meeting, the deputy commissioner asked the health officials to check all the home isolated COVID patients and those who are suffering from other serious diseases, immediately be shifted to Rajindra Hospital for treatment under the supervision of doctors. He said that home isolation was allowed only for those persons who had no co-morbidity.

The review meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr.  Preeti Yadav, Nodal Officer COVID Care Government Medical College Patiala Surbhi Malik, Civil Surgeon Dr. Harish Malhotra, Vice Principal Government Medical College  Dr. Pramod Kumar, Medical Superintendent Rajindra Hospital  Paras Pandov, Deputy M.S.  Dr.  Dangwal, SDM Charanjit Singh, DSP Achhru Ram, Dr.  RPS Sibia, Dr. Vishal Chopra and Officials from Public Works Department and Punjab Health System Corporation.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the Health Department and the Medical Superintendent to submit a detailed report after analyzing the deaths due to COVID-19 in the district so far.  Each patient admitted to the isolation ward should be closely monitored and oxygen levels should be checked thrice a day, added deputy Commissioner.

The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the arrangements for cleanliness, food for the patients, medicines etc. in the isolation ward. He directed the doctors of the Health Department and Government Rajindra Hospital to take care of the patients of COVID-19 in a coordinated and professional manner so that the positive patients could be treated in a timely manner.

Kumar Amit said that the district administration was working round the clock to tackle the growing number of cases of COVID-19 with mutual coordination and collective responsibility for the success of the Mission Fateh launched by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. Though the medical staff at the hospital also perform their duty by taking care of the patients but in view of the spike in the number of the COVID patients, more vigilance is required, he cautioned the doctors and health officials.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the officials of PWD and Punjab Health System Corporation to immediately provide all the necessary facilities in the isolation ward of Rajindra Hospital so that the medical staff and in-patients would not face any hassle.

The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the general public to immediately contact the Medical Helpline No. 104 and helpline numbers of the Civil Surgeons Office Patiala, 0175-5128793 and 5127793, if any one having symptoms of COVID.
