MoU between Punjab Tourism-GNDU to boost tourism

Amritsar-The Guru Nanak Dev University and Punjab Heritage & Tourism Promotion Board (PHTPB) here today inked an MoU at the office of Vice-Chancellor. The objective of this MoU was giving a huge boost to the tourism sector in Punjab as part of the series of path breaking measures being undertaken by the board under the leadership of Capt. Amrinder Singh, Chief Minister and visionary guidance of Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The CEO of the PHTPB Shivdular Singh Dhillon and the Vice Chancellor of the Guru Nanak Dev University Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu signed on the dotted line.

Disclosing in a statement after the signing of MoU, the CEO of PHTPB Shivdular Singh Dhillon said that no stone is being left unturned to make Punjab a frontline state in terms of tourism sector. He further said that with the signing of this MoU both the institutions would forge a long term partnership keeping mutual sharing of expertise in the prime focus. Besides this, a series of activities would also be chalked out to give fillip to tourism in the state.

“Punjab is one of the attractive tourist destinations in India, and the state popularity is owing to its incredible tourism possessions. The state is well known for its warm hospitality and active farming community. We are happy to associate with PHTPB who have the expertise in the field and we are confident that our partnership will be beneficial in endorsing the state as an ideal vacation spot and promote Tourism”, Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu Vice Chancellor  said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi , Coordinator University Industry Linkage Program, said, “Rural India has a great potential and there is immense opportunity to be tapped. Rich in traditions of arts, crafts, culture and heritage, Rural India offers unparallel experience to tourists seeking to discover real India. We are delighted to partner with PHTPB for promoting fartays in Punjab.”

Divulging more, Dr Bedi said that the University would give academic as well as the intellectual inputs under the visionary guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu whereas the PHTPB would chip in with the financial and infrastructural assistance.

 

Prof. Kamaljit Singh Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. S.S. Behl, Dean Students’Welfare,Prof. S.S. Chimni, Prof. Incharge Public Relations, Alka Kapoor, Manager PHTPB and other senior officials of the University and board were also present.
