MP Preneet Kaur looses 23 lakh in a cyber fraud

Member Parliament from Patiala Preenet Kaur and wife of Punjab Chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh looses Rs. 23 lakhs in a cyber fraud in the national Capital. Preenet Kaur was in Delhi during the ongoing Parliament session.
She received a call from a fraudster, introducing himself as the bank manager of SBI. The fraudster asked her that as”the bank has to pay her salary, so quickly tell your account type, ATM number and CVC number. He further said that he is holding the call. When Preenet Kaur gave the detail, he further said that an OTP (One Time Password) number has come on her mobile number, please tell that number so that salary can be added now.”
Preenet kaur said that “as soon as I gave him the OTP number I got a message that Rs 23 lakhs has been deducted from my account.” I was shocked to see the message. She immediately reported the matter to the police. The police immediately came into action and started investigation. A case has been registered on the complaint of the MP.
As per information the fraudster Ataul Ansari who duped Member Parliament, belongs to Jamtara in Jharkhand. Jamtara is new district created by separating from Dumka district. It is bounded by Deoghar district in north, Dumka and West Bengal in the east, Dhanbad and West Bengal in the south and Giridih in the west.
Punjab Police team arrived in Jamtara on Tuesday to take Ataul Ansari in a remand as a case has also been registered against Ataul in Patiala police station. Jamtara SP Anshuman Kumar said that the Patiala police have reached to take the cyber criminal on remand. The process of sending the accused to Punjab on remand is going on. The SP said that on August 3, Ataul Ansari was arrested in another case and sent to Jamtara jail.
