MRSPTU architecture students shine in nation design competition

Adding another feather to its cap, the students of the 5th year, B. Architecture of Giani Zail Singh (GZS) School of Architecture and Planning, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda bagged all prizes as winners in the “Games of Shapes Design Competition”- a national level competition held online recently.
Gurpreet Singh was announced as the winner, followed by Kamandeep Singh and Sukhjeet Kaur as 1st runner ups and Akarshak Singla as the 2nd runner up. Not only this, four students- Vishesh Verma, Kajal Rani, Simran Kaur and Tanmaye Mahajan also got special mentions for their design work .
The competition was organised by Ar. Avitesh under the banner of “Journey from Education to Success”. As many as 14 institutions participated in the competition with more than 150 entries from all over India.
The competition brief was to design a 2BHK house for an architect who is fond of geometrical shapes. The main challenge was to select a geometrical shape (except square and rectangle) and it should reflect in all drawings. Evaluation Criteria of the design competition was concept and design intent, originality, the selected shape and its creative use in spaces and aesthetics.
The eminent jury for the same was Ar. Vivek Logani (Chairman IIA Gurugram Center), Ar. Punit Sethi (Chairman IIA Haryana Chapter) and Ar. Vijay Garg (Ex-acting president Coucil of Architecture). The jury was extremely impressed with the design ability of the students from MRSPTU, Bathinda.
The team worked under the esteemed guidance of the faculty design team Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot, Head of the Department, Ar. Amandeep Kaur, Ar. Kajal Handa and Ar. Naveena Verma . All the faculty members appreciated the splendid performance of the students.
MRSPTU, Registrar, Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu and GZSCCET Campus Director cum MRSPTU Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. Savina Bansal congratulated the students for the grand success in the National level competition and appreciated the efforts put in by the faculty.

MRSPTU, Vice-chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Mohan Paul Singh Ishar strongly praised the worthy performance by the students in the National level competition. He lauded the achievements of the Department of Architecture and wished for more of such achievements.
