MRSPTU foundation day -series of events concluded; innovators and creative artists facilitated

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda celebrated 6th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm.

Three day long celebrations concluded here on Friday with the Bhog of Shri Akhand Path. While experts threw light on the life and teachings of Sikh Guru Sahiban and their relevance for mankind and Life and philosophy of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Academicians, scholars, students and eminent personalities including Punjab, Finance Minister,  Manpreet Singh Badal participated in these celebrations and had ‘Guru Ka Langar’ (Community Kitchen) together arranged by the University. The vibrant and sprawling campus gave a festive look with beautifully decorated state of the art aesthetic buildings of the university and   students in colourful attire.

While speaking on the occasion, MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu the philosophy and teachings of Sikh Guru Sahiban are most relevant and important for mankind. He said the chair in the name of ‘Guru Nanak Dev Ji has already been established in MRSPTU, Bathinda to align the objectives of Government of Punjab to conduct exhaustive research in systematic manner on his messages and teachings of peace,  humanity, equality,  compassion for creation of better society and clean green environment. However, the vision of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on man, nature relationship with particular emphasis on his message of “Pavan-Guru Paani-Pita Maata-Dharat” studying the elements of water, air and soil in the present context of ecological crisis facing mankind will remain in focus.

While congratulating on Foundation day of University, Prof. Sidhu said the foundation day is the day to remember and pay tribute to the legendary king Mahraja Ranjit Singh on whose name the university is named. “Five year short   journey of fastest growing MRSPTU has been commendable. It’s a moment of pride for me to lead the university, which has an excellent faculty and hard working student I seek support of all stakeholders for taking the university to new heights,” he added.

Prof. (Dr.) Paramvir Singh from Department of Encyclopaedia of Sikhism, Punjabi University, Patiala throws light on the life, philosophy, teachings, Gurbani  and sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Key speaker, Prof. (Dr.) Radha Sharma, Former Head, Department of History,   Guru Nanak Dev University,   Amritsar threw light on the life and philosophy  of the legendary Maharaja Ranjit Singh .

She focused her talk about the ideals of great Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh and presented a brief history of the leader of the Sikh Empire, which ruled the northwest Indian subcontinent in the early half of the 19th century.

Prof. Sharma presented her views on the contribution of great warrior Maharaja Ranjit Singh as a unifying and most dynamic leader of Indian history, who played a pivotal role in promotion of education, social reforms, nation building and his iron hand rule in that era and the secular image of the Maharaja.

To promote frugal technology and creative art, the university honoured five prominent innovators and creative artists of Punjab.

Those who were honoured for excelling in different fields include  Yadwinder Singh Khokhar (for making Aeroplane Models of Thermocol, ‘organizing Aero Modelling Shows and other innovations ),  Balwinder Singh Sema (for making unique models in glass bottles and bulbs including the model of Golden Temple (In Bulb), Jaskaran Singh Doda (for preserving 100 year old farming antics and creating a unique museum, Yashveer Goyal (a young man from Bathinda who is totally deaf and dumb, but has excelled  in a wide range of fields and won national and International prizes and President Medal for his achievements) and Artist Gurpreet Singh Bathinda ( a self-taught painter of Punjab,  whose paintings on historical and social themes and  ‘live’ paintings have often gone viral on social media. He is a good teacher, painter, photographer, nature lover and many more qualities).

A short video film on the MRSPTU Campus prepared by the public relations department was displayed, which was appreciated by the audience.

In his address,  MRSPTU, Registrar, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, complimented the university faculty and staff  for organising the function with great success.

Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare under the guidance of Director, Prof. Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot and a team of senior faculty worked hard for the success of the programme.  Prof. Sunita Kotwal and Er. Navdeep Kaur Kheeva anchored the stage very well, while Deans and Directors of the University also graced the occasion.
