NABARD comes in support of PACS and NGOs during tough COVID-19 era

NABARD sanctioned a grant assistance of Rs. 3.00 Lakhs to Dodra Primary Agriculture Society, Patiala, under Cooperative Development Fund. On the occasion of 39th Foundation day of NABARD, in the presence of Parvinder Kaur Nagra, DDM- Patiala, NABARD, Gurbaj Singh, Managing Director CCB Patiala and Gulzar Singh, District Manager, CCB Patiala presented sanction letters to Harpal Singh, Secretary, Dodra MPCS, Kulwinder Singh Dhaliwal, President Progressive Youth Forum and Parwinder Kaur, Chair person, Gurbachan Welfare Society.
This assistance would help the PACS to mobilise deposits, increase in business portfolio, computerize their operation, improve their work environment, which will boost confidence and trust among the members/non-members etc, added Nagra, DDM NABARD.
Apart from that, NABARD also sanctioned grant assistance to Gurbachan Welfare Society, Village Kallomajra, Rajpura and Progressive Youth Forum, Ghagga under Micro Entrepreneurship Development Programme, for providing training to Self Help groups to build up skill and competency of SHG members to take up micro enterprises. This would enable them to get incremental income and additional employment created by the activities pursued after MEDP training.
Speaking on the occasion, Gurbaj Singh, MD, CCB, Patiala informed that NABARD has been assisting Cooperative institutions and the NGOs since its inception from 1982. In the challenging situation of COVID-19, the apex bank is playing a pivotal role in strengthening of rural banks, farmer cooperatives & creation of livelihoods opportunities. He congratulated both the NGOs & urged them to make full use of NABARD’s assistance in training the rural women so as to enable them to earn income on a sustainable basis.
Gulzar Singh District Manager, CCB Patiala also congratulated Secretary of MPCS said that with NABARD’s assistance under CDF, Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) should become more professional, technologically savvy and financially stable to face the new challenges at hand and would provide strong and efficient credit delivery system.
