National conference on library sciences concludes at World University

A two day national conference on the impact of emerging information scenario on library information sciences education, research and training concluded at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. The conference was organised by the Indian Association of Teachers of Library and Information Science (IATLIS) in collaboration with Department of Library and information sciences of the University.

Registrar of the University, Dr. Pritpal Singh graced the valedictory function as the cghief guest. Speaking on the occasion he said that libraries are the heart and soul of any institution of higher learning and in a developing country like India library act as the storehouse of knowledge. He added that the libraries of various central, state and private universities must share their resources for the benefit of the students.

Dr Jagtar Singh, President of IALTIS and Professor In-Charge, Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha Library, Punjabi University, Patiala gave an overview of the conference and said that in the two day conference academicians from various parts of the country presented their views. He added that the technology has changed the way we communicate and exchange information and it is to understand this change, conferences like these are held.

In the end on National Conference on Library Science, that concluded at World University , the organising Secretary of the conference and In-Charge, Department of Library and Information Sciences of the University, Dr. Khushpreet Singh thanked the governing body of IALTIS and the University authorities for the support and help during the course of the conference.
