The N.S.S. Unit and Red Ribbon Club of Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls College of Education, Dhamomajra Patiala celebrated the National Unity Day in the college campus. During this celebration various activities such as extension talk, slogan writing competition and pledge to uphold the unity and integrity of nation were organised .Prof. Ved Prakash Sharma ( Associate Prof. and Dean Students Welfare, Modi College, Patiala) and Rupinder Kaur (Volunteer, Nehru Yuva Kendra and President, Power House Youth Club) were the special guests on this occassion.
While welcoming the guests college Principal, Dr. Harmeet Kaur Anand said that presently when there is chaos in the border areas, there is a dire need to create awareness about the importance of national unity among the masses. She further added that only the unity & integrity of our nation can give a strong & befitting reply to the terrorism and celebration of birthday of Vallabh Bhai Patel will instill such feeling all over the country.
While addressing the students Prof. Ved Prakash Sharma said that although India is a land of diversity but still the people of India are full of patriotism in their hearts. He further added that patriots like Vallabh Bhai Patel instilled the feelings of unity among nation with their valour & bravery and brought freedom to the country. That’s why he is known as the Iron Man of India. He further added that his life gives us the inspiration of being loyal to our country. He also said that at the time of independence, Unity of the country was established only with the efforts of Vallabh Bhai Patel. Rupinder Kaur on the behalf of Nehru Yuva Kendra distributed the prizes to the winners of the slogan writing competition. During this programme patriotic songs & poems were also presented by the students and pledge to uphold the unity & integrity of nation was also taken by the students and staff memebers .All the staff members were also present on this occasion
