Nature blessed GNDU with shower of variety of flowers and fragrance

As many as 72 varieties of  flowers and 500 plants of roses in 25 colours adds colourful and fragrance in almost 30 percent out of about 60 percent of landscaping beauty of 500 acres of land of Guru Nanak Dev University.

The Campus during this lockdown period is enrich with ear soothing charping of different species of birds in the calm atmosphere of the University. The campus is depicting  true poetical vision and blessings of Bhai Veer Singh’s poetry. The campus floral look at present is the dream of Vice- Chancellor, Professor Jaspal Singh Sandhu as he is nature loving person. He always inspire to worship and protect nature n environment .

It is pertinent to say that due to his earnest affords, during the golden jubilee celebrations and to mark 550 birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji, the botanical garden of the university was adorned with  550 rose plants in 25 varieties in different shades and fragrance brought especially from Bangaluru to mark this occasion. Still another lot of  500 plants in additional 25 varieties are pending due to spread of epidemic Corona, this will be added as soon as conditions normalise.

 

Three species of honey bees and seven species of Butterflies are roaming around the flowers. About 150 species are added to the Landscaping of camps and Botanical gardens from PAU Ludhiana,  FRI Dehradun, SFRI Jodhpur and other different locations in Punjab.


Large number of birds are enjoying the colorful Campus. Three chicks of ducks,  six newly born peacocks and rabbits are the proud natives of the Guru Nanak Dev University and roaming freely with the sense of belonging and their right to live.


Nature blessed GNDU with shower of variety of flowers and fragrance. Winter flowers include in this family are Antirrhinum pansy petunia aster dimora phlox verbena nasturtiums poppy salvia hollyhock larkspur marigolds dahlias coreopsis sunflower etc.
