With the announcement of imposition of Rs 500/- as fine for breaking Home Quarantine order issued yesterday by Dr Avneet Kaur, Director Health Services, Punjab, Patiala’s senior deputy mayor Yoginder Singh Yogi may be the happiest person. He may happily pay the fine and bury the controversy created over his breaking of home quarantine. Opposition leaders also created ruckus over the issue and handed over the letter to the administration to take action as per law.
Yogi, who was told to remain home quarantined for 14 days along with two of his family members till April 29, after he complained of flu-like symptoms and he was tested negative for the Covid 19 on April 15, defied orders and distributed ration to around 300 people, to the needy in his own area, before the completion of quarantine period
Later the Civil surgeon Patiala Dr Harish Malhotra , being head of the local health department, issued notice to Patiala senior deputy mayor Yoginder Singh Yogi for flouting quarantine protocol and asked him to respond within 24 hours. To this ,Patiala Municipal Corporation Yoginder Singh Yogi responded to the civil surgeon notice and said that he didn’t defy the quarantine orders.
After studying the senior deputy mayor’s reply, Patiala Civil Surgeon Dr Harish Malhotra forwarded the letter to SSP Patiala to take suitable action against him under Epidemic Act.
Being close aide of senior ruling leaders, the officers started playing passing the pass. The authorities said that “the civil surgeon wrongly forward the letter to the police, as per the procedure he has to forward the letter to the deputy commissioner and then deputy commissioner will asks the police department to register a case” .
Now with these new orders, Yoginder Singh Yogi will try to grab the opportunity.
