Election strategist Prashant Kishor has resigned as the principal advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
In March this year, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had appointed Kishor as his Principal Advisor ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls in the state. In 2016 Kishor was hired by the Congress for Punjab Assembly Elections due in 2017 to help Amarinder Singh’s campaign in Punjab after losing two consecutive Assembly elections for the Congress.
In a letter, he wrote:
Dear Sir,
As you are aware, in view of my decision to take a temporary break from active role in public life, I have not been able to take over the responsibilities as your Principal Advisor. Since I am yet to decide on my future course of action, I write to request you to kindly relieve me from this responsibility.
I take this opportunity to thank you for considering me for this position.
Best regards,
Prashant Kishor
Earlier, the election strategist was roped in by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021. As a political strategist, Kishor worked with many parties and helped them win various elections. Kishor’s resignation is a clear indication of his transition from a political strategist and advisor to an active politician.
