NIA declares reward of Rs 10 lakh on Punjab, Chandigarh’s gangster-turned-terrorist

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh on gangster and suspected Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) commander Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda son of Charan singh Sandhu resident of Village Rattoke, police station Chola Sahib District Tarn Taran having permanent address of house number 3-6-267, Near gate number 05 Sach Khand Gurudwara, Shahida Sahib, Nanded (Hajur Sahib), Maharasthra.
Four terror suspects were arrested by Haryana Police near Bastara toll plaza at 4 am on May 5. The suspects were identified as Gurpreet, Amandeep Parminder and Bhupinder. Three IEDs, one country-made pistol, 31 live cartridges, 1.31 lakh cash and six mobile phones were recovered from the terror suspects who belong to Punjab.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had taken over the investigation of the Karnal Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and ammunition recovery case in which four terror suspects were arrested in May 2022 after an order were issued by the ministry of home affairs on May 23,2022.
“Whereas, the Central government is of the opinion that a Scheduled offence under the National Investigation Agency Act,2008, has been committed and having regard to the gravity of the ofence and its ramifications on national security, it is required to be investigated by the National Investigation agency in accordance with the National Investigation Agency act,2008 and directed the NIA to take up investigation of the aforesaid case.” as per the orders issued by MHA.
The declaration of reward on the wanted gangster Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda came on Friday in a case related to “Explosives found in Inova car at Toll Plaza Bastara, Madhuban” against a FIR lodged on May 24,2022 under section 13,18, 20 under UA (P) Act 1967, section 4,5 explosive substance act ,1908 and section 25 under arms act 1959 at NIA, New Delhi.
“NIA has declared a Cash Reward of Rs 10 Lakhs against Rinda…Any information pertaining to the absconding accused leading to his arrest or apprehension, may be shared…The identity of the informer shall be kept secret,” the NIA said.Rinda has already been declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by the court.
The agency shared telephone, WhatsApp and telegram numbers of its Delhi headquarters and Chandigarh branch office besides email addresses for people to give information about him.
According to the NIA, the investigations have revealed the entire conspiracy was hatched by accused Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, to disturb peace and disrupt the communal harmony in the country.
