NITTTR Chandigarh Annual Day: Governor congratulated institute on being accorded the “Deemed to be University” status

National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh (Ministry of Education, Government of India) celebrated its 57th Annual Day on 7th September, 2024. The Annual Day function was graced by Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor, Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh.
Speaking on the occasion Governor congratulated NITTTR Chandigarh on being accorded the “Deemed to be University” status (Distinct Category) and expressed his best wishes for the Institute to take forward the vision of Viksit Bharat and nurture talent for the development of indigenous solutions towards technological advancements. He also emphasized on the role and importance of teachers in the societal and economic development of any country by providing numerous examples for the same. He specifically elaborated the vital part that NITTTR Chandigarh can play in this journey of making our nation a global leader across the domains.
Prof. (Dr.) Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Director, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar was the Guest of Honour for the event. Prof. (Dr.) Kanaujia, laid down the need of quality educational institutes for the character building of the youth.
Prof. (Dr.) Bhola Ram Gurjar, Director, NITTTR, Chandigarh presented the Institute Annual Report highlighting the achievements of the institute marking a significant milestone in its journey towards excellence in the higher educational domain and up-skilling of the technical workforce. Meritorious students were awarded by the dignitaries during the function. Award for ‘Best Polytechnic’ and ‘Best Engineering College’ were also conferred to recognize their significant contributions as flag bearers of quality technical education in northern India. The celebrations were marked by a number of other activities by NITTTR Chandigarh which included a panel discussion on ‘Status of Implementation of NEP 2020 & the way forward in HEIs’ involving Vice-Chancellors /Directors/ Principals of various HEIs.
As an initiative to serving the society, an interactive session was also organized with number of senior officials from government and quasi-government organizations in and around tri-city to identify areas of improvement in enhancing quality of life in terms of infrastructure, needs for human resource development in engineering and allied areas. In a special ceremony, the notable contributions of NITTTR Chandigarh’s staff were also recognized by awarding them. The celebrations also included a vibrant cultural evening by students, staff and faculty of the institute.
