Punjab Power and PWD Minister, Harbhajan Singh ETO paid surprise visit on the very first working day of New year to ensure the attendance of PSPCL employees at Nawanshahar office.
Arriving at 4:45 pm on Monday at Powercom complex on Garhshankar road, Nawanshahar which houses Circle, Division and Sub Division offices of PSPCL, the Power Minister took in possession all the attendance registers. After that he called one by one all the employees posted at Sub Division, Divison and Circle offices and checked their physical presence
After finishing the checking, Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the purpose of the surprise visit was to ensure that the staff of this essential services department should be on duty. He said that luckily all the employees and Officers including Deputy Chief Engineer Naresh Kumar and XEN Nitin Kumar were found present at the last hour of the working day. Some of the employees who were not present in the office have submitted a requisite application in advance and mentioned valid reason in movement register.
Reiterating the commitment to provide better services to the PSPCL consumers through the work force, he said that Bhagwant Mann Government is marching ahead to make Punjab a surplus and self reliant state in power.

He said that to ensure the presence of the PSPCL staff all the attendance registers have been merged to one and a movement register has been made mandatory before leaving office in case of field duty.
During a brief interaction, he said that Punjab Government has made successful attempts to fill the vacancies in the PSPCL and so far about 22000 employees have been inducted by issuing appointment letters by the Chief Minister during recent days.
He said that the state government’s commitment to provide free electricity upto 600 units per cycle of domestic users have ushers a way of savings for the consumers and now every household was trying to get zero power bill.

He directed the officials to take care of problems of the consumers and redress them in time.
