Non-Sikh Takht Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded administrator changed after resentment shown by Sikhs

Few days ago the Maharashtra government had appointed a non-Sikh ,Abhijit Rajendra Raut, the collector of Nanded as the administrator of the Takhat Sachkhand Shri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra.
After a worldwide resentment lodged by the Sikh community, the Maharashtra government today appointed a Sikh, Vijay Satbir Singh, a former IAS officer as the new Administrator for Takhat Sachkhand Shri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra.
Even, Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) had written to the Maharashtra government over this appointment as it had created “discontent among Sikhs in Nanded and even in Punjab”.

Earlier, DSGMC president, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Jagdip Singh Kahlon met Devendra Fadnavis (Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra), requested him to reconsider the decision to appoint a non-sikh as an administrator of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded (Maharashtra). “Fadnavis immediately assured us and named Vijay Satbir Singh as the new administrator of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded.We thank Eknath Shinde (Chief Minister, Maharashtra) and Devendra Fadnavis for considering the request of the entire Sikh community. ” said Harmeet Singh Kalka, DSGMC President.
