Now, CM becomes full custodian of Home department; two ministers promoted; two demoted in today’s reshuffle

After the resignation of Fauja Singh Sarari, the cabinet berth in the Mann government had got vacant. To fill the position immediately, Mann government has selected one of its core worker, Dr Balbir Singh and inducted him as cabinet minister in the Punjab cabinet. He is considered close to the party high command and Punjab leadership, particularly chief minister Bhagwant Mann.
After the induction of Dr Balbir Singh into the Punjab cabinet, a reshuffle has been done in the portfolios of cabinet ministers.
Now, Punjab chief minister has become the full fledged custodian of state Home department as he got the Jails department which is also an allied of home department and was with Harjot Singh Bains. He is already holding the home affairs & justice, vigilance, general administration and now added jails in its kitty.
Two ministers of Mann cabinet have got promotion, as they got key departments. One is Dr Balbir Singh, MLA Patiala (Rural) who got the berth in today’s expansion, is the new health & family welfare, medical education & research and elections department which was earlier with Chetan Singh Jauramjra, who also belongs to Patiala district. He represents Samana in the Punjab vidhan sabha. Other minister is Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer as he got an important portfolio of Water Resources, Mines & Geology along with governance reforms, science & technology, sports & youth services. He loses higher education and lesser important printing & stationary.
Two ministers who lost key portfolios are Chetan Singh Jauramajra and Harjot Singh Bains. Now, former health and medical education minister Jaurmajra will see the departments of Fauja Singh Sarari namely freedom fighters, defence services welfare, food processing and horticulture departments. Likewise Harjot Singh Bains has lost three of the key departments from its kitty-water resources, mines & geology and jails. Now onwards he will look after the complete education department namely school education, higher education and technical education & industrial training.
Now, CM becomes full custodian of Home department; two ministers promoted; two demoted in today’s reshuffle. But, in this reshuffle the winner is Anmol Gagan Mann who got hospitality department without loosing any portfolios.
