NPL organises Health Check-up Camp; facilitates early cancer detection through screening camp

In an attempt to sensitise people and to promote early detection of various health problems and facilitate cancer prevention, Nabha Power Limited, which operates 2×700 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Plant at Rajpura, organised a cancer check-up camp at Jansua village in Rajpura sub-division of Patiala district on Friday.
The camp was organised in association with Jalandhar based World Cancer Care Charitable Trust during which free cancer screening and medical consultation were provided to more than 800 people from around 15 villages of Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib districts.
This camp was held as a part of CSR initiatives being undertaken by Nabha Power Limited for creating awareness and help in early detection of cancer to improve the chances of a complete cure of the disease.
It was conducted by a team of health experts from Jalandhar, who examined the people and conducted various tests including mammography, pap smear, PSA test for prostate cancer, screening for oral cancer, bone density and blood test to diagnose various cancers. General tests like ECG, hba1c for sugar, blood pressure and complete blood test were also conducted during the camp. Free medical counselling was also provided to the people at the camp.
On this occasion, Chief Executive of Nabha Power Limited, Suresh Kumar Narang, said, “It was an earnest effort of Nabha Power Limited to provide better medical facilities to the people, especially in the rural areas. Our teams work closely with the village panchayats and the local communities to promote quality healthcare in various villages of two districts.”

In the year 2021, the camp was held at Raimajri and in the previous year’s similar camps were organised at Basantpura, Badalimaiki and Ragian villages.
Other than this, Nabha Power has also renovated and constructed additional classrooms in the government middle and primary school, deputed a special educator, constructed a mid-day meal shed, an anganwari centre, EWS house, roads and the panchayat building at Jansua village. In the year 19-20 Nabha Power also ran a skill development centre in the village helping the village youth gain skills that opened up new avenues of respectable income for them.
