NTAS appeals for Speedy construction of Open-Air Theatre

Patiala– National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS) Patiala, organised “Thanks giving function at Bhasha Bhawan Complex to celebrate the successful completion of 17 Years of Monthly Garden Theatre Movement, first of its kind in India.

The Ntasians President G.S. Kakkar, Sr. Vice President Rajinder Verma , director Pran Sabharwal, Advisor M.S. Jaggi and artists honoured the chief guest Madam Gursharan Kaur Director Department of languages as a token of gratitude for their valued cooperation in continuing the stupendous task of daily rehearsals and providing facilities of men and material towards completing 205 Monthly Garden Theatre Festivals during the period.

The admirers presented award of honour, bouquets and literary gift Punjabi book “Dharti Utte Swarg” authored by M.S. Jaggi to the Chief Guest in recognition of her contribution towards promoting of Punjabi literature, theatre and especially for their initiative towards building an Open-Air Theatre at Bhasha Bhawan.

The artists also expressed their heartfelt thanks to M.P. Dharamvir Gandhi, a great lover of arts for his generous contribution of Rs. 21.95 lakh grant for building Bhasha Bhawan Open-Air Theatre. NTAS director Pran Sabharwal informed that in response to artists’ request for starting construction work for speedy completion of Open Air Theatre, director languages said that they had received M.Ps. grant and were in touch with Punjab Govt. and Patiala Improvement Trust to undertake the construction work shortly.

Prominent among others, who spoke and present on the occasion were litterateurs, Assistant Directors Dr. Satnam Singh and Dr. Harnek Singh, Research Scholars Alok Chawla, Jaspreet Kaur, besides  Parminder Singh and architect Jagmohan Singh Bedi.
