NTAS staged play on Patiala Founder Ala Singh

Despite severe cold day of the year the National Theater Arts Society (NTAS) Patiala organized their 201st Monthly “Punjab Haas Raag Rang” Festival in association with Philanthropist Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi, Head Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust to mark the Birth Anniversary of Patiala’s Founder Baba Ala Singh at Baradari Gardens, here.

In keeping with its spirit of relentless activity, festival’s convener duo Pran Sabahrwal-Sunita Sabharwal, their team along with Chief Guest Vijay Goyal President Patiala Social Welfare Society and special guest socialite Rajiv Bansal M.D. Bombay Interior decorators inaugurated the festival by paying tributes to Lord Shiva and to the memory of Baba Ala Singh, Royal city’s founder.

The appreciative Baradari Gardens audience, braving biting cold, gave good response to the captivating two hour programme of humour, music, dance and powerful Punjabi plays including Jatinder Brar’s “Lok tantar or Vann Tantar”, value-based “Kaka-Pataka”, “Ik Bechari Maan” on partition, anti-domestic violence “Sukki Kukh”, Bhand Naqlan, songs by Manjit Mani Mangal Jelly, one-man presentation against foeticide “So Kiyon Manda Akhiye” by Pran Sabharwal.

The Chief Guest Vijay Goyal,President Patiala Social Welfare Society said the plays strongly pleading for protecting nature, keeping environment clean and against foeticide were befitting tribute to Baba Ala Singh. Special guest Rajiv Bansal M.D. Bombay Interior decorators lauded Sabharwals and their dedicated team for keeping theater movement alive despite many odds.They also appreciated their tireless efforts for highlighting the social evils, in dramatic ways.

They honoured guests artists including Gopal Sharma, Jagdish Kumar, Sweeti Rajput, Rajshri, Rajat Chouhan, Shivam Chatta and workshop artists. Sabahrwal expressed gratitude to all associates, guests and artists and personalities like Dr. Swaran Singh Mann Deputy director Horticulture, Harinder Singh Darshi Sabharwal, Chairman Khukhrain Welfare Association, Avinash Mehta, Seth Mukandi Lal M.D. Bharat Paints, Rajesh Aggarwal Navyug Bastralya, Philanthropist Shyam Lal Navyug, DSP Vikas Sabharwal-Kumud Sabharwal for their cooperation.
