Prof. Arvind, the newly appointed 13th Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, took over the charge of his office here today. Expressing his views on the occasion, he said that he will do his utmost for the betterment of the university and will work unitedly with all stakeholders for this purpose. Admiring Punjabi University, he said that it is a prestigious institution with vast treasures of knowledge. He said that by adopting new global academic trends of 21st century, the University will explore the possibility of new courses. He emphasized that without loving and respecting our mother language we cannot move ahead. He said that in order to make Punjabi a viable and competent medium of education for all disciplines including Science and Engineering etc., the university would plan further projects in the near future to strengthen the technical aspect of Punjabi language.
In collaboration with various organizations working in this field, efforts will be made to bring new projects in the field of Punjabi language by combining concepts like machine learning, machine translation and artificial intelligence. He hoped that this will also help in generating new financial resources for the university. Talking about the financial crisis of the university, he said that all stakeholders including the government need to take some steps to resolve this crisis. He said that Punjabi University Patiala is the university of every Punjabi. He said that no doubt the university would seek the help of the government but it is also the need of the hour that we move in the direction finding alternate ways to meet the financial needs of the university in the long run. He further said that we need to take this crisis in a positive light also as we all are now making efforts for a better future. With our continuous efforts we will surely be able to restructure the university.
