Observer for Municipal Corporation Patiala, Secretary of the Cooperation Department, Anindita Mitra, conducted a comprehensive review of the nomination scrutiny for the upcoming Patiala Municipal Corporation elections. During a meeting held this evening with Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, SP City Muhammad Sarfaraz Alam, ADC Rural Development Anuprita Johal, and all ward-level Returning Officers, she emphasized strict compliance with the guidelines issued by the State Election Commission.

The Election Observer evaluated the district administration’s ward-wise preparations to ensure the election process is conducted with utmost impartiality, transparency, and efficiency. She instructed that the entire voting process be documented through videography and that CCTV footage be securely stored. Highlighting the importance of oversight, she stated that on polling day, December 21, the State Election Commission would monitor the entire process via CCTV cameras and webcasting, with all data being safely saved on the Commission’s cloud server. She also underscored the need for stringent action against any tampering with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Anindita Mitra directed Returning Officers to address complaints promptly and to collaborate with the concerned DSPs to inspect polling booths. She reiterated that candidates’ polling agents must set up their booths at least 100 meters away from the polling station, as per the Commission’s guidelines.
