Officials Giving False Information to Parliament commit breach of Privilege : MP Manish Tewari

Member of Parliament from Chandigarh and former Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Manish Tewari stated that ever since being elected MP, he has been making continuous efforts over the past year to bring about a transformation in the city.

He also made it clear that officials who furnish misleading information  to Parliament are liable for Breach of Privilege .

Tewari was addressing a public gathering in the Mouli Jagran area, where Chandigarh Congress President H.S. Lucky was also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Tewari said that raising the voice of the people of Chandigarh in Parliament was his responsibility.

He emphasized that questions related to public concerns, which went unaddressed for the past 25 years, are now being actively pursued, to ensure accountability.

Tewari affirmed that he was elected to raise the voice of the people in Parliament and is diligently doing so. However, he warned that any official who fails to provide accurate responses to  queries raised in Parliament runs the gauntlet of Breach of Privilege.

He further stated that multiple complaints from citizens are being received on various issues.

While officials respond to questions in Parliament claiming that water is supplied for 18 hours a day in Manimajra residents say they don’t even get a proper supply for even a few hours. The water that is  supplied is muddy too.

Many tubewells, responsible for water distribution, are reportedly non-functional.

Tewari assured that once the Municipal Corporation comes under the  leadership of the INC along with its alliance partners , the basic problems of the people would be resolved.

Chandigarh Congress President H.S. Lucky added that MP Manish Tewari is strongly advocating for the public’s issues. He mentioned that although he had attended several events in the area before, this was the first time they got an opportunity to connect with so many local residents in a structured manner .

He affirmed that only the Congress party and it’s alliance partners have the vision and capability to develop the city, and urged people to step forward and strengthen the party.

District Congress President Surjit Singh Dhillon, organizer of the programme and Pradesh Congress Secretary Lekhpal Mukesh Rai, Asif Chaudhary, Vinay Mishra, Mukesh Sirswal, Jaleel Ahmed Qureshi, Net Ram, Aadesh Sharma, among others, were also present at the event.
