Officiating VC of Patiala based university joins office at Chandigarh

In compliance with the order issued by the Punjab Raj Bhawan, K K Yadav, IAS, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Government of Punjab, assumed the charge of Vice-Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala. K K Yadav succeeds Prof. Karamjeet Singh, the founder Vice-Chancellor, who completed his tenure on 2 December 2024.
K K Yadav, Vice-Chancellor, addressed the faculty and staff on 8th January 2025. He eulogised the achievements of university, under the dynamic leadership of the former VC Prof. Karamjeet Singh.
While addressing the faculty, Yadav said, “The online education seeks to transform higher education by focusing on skill-based education to meet needs of the industry and the economy. An integration of vocational education with general education will strengthen industry-academia collaboration in HEIs.” For skilling of learners at the optimum level, he emphasized on UGC’s initiative of bringing the industry and other professional expertise into the academic institutions through “Professor of Practice”.
Yadav said, “JGND PSOU in the upcoming months will consider this initiative so that the real world practices and experiences augment the faculty resources in higher education institutions and benefit the learners.” He exhorted the faculty to develop dynamic courses to meet the industry and societal needs and work with industry experts and academicians of pioneering institutes for joint research projects and services.
He also emphasized on entering meaningful MoUs for collaborative research and availing the benefits of “one nation one subscription” to promote vibrant research culture.
