National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research(NITTTR), Chandigarh celebrated its 56th Annual Day on September 7, 2023.

Banwarilal Purohit,  Governor of Punjab & Administrator of UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) GLD Wickramasinghe, Director-General, CPSC Manila, Philippines and Prof. (Dr.) MP Poonia, Professor, MNIT, Jaipur and Former Vice Chairman, AICTE, New Delhi were the Guests of Honour, during the event. Prof. (Dr.) BR Gurjar, Director of the Institute presided over the Awards Ceremony.

Banwarilal Purohit,  Governor of Punjab & Administrator of UT, Chandigarh distributed the awards to the best performing Polytechnics and Engineering Colleges of Northern Region.

During his address he highlighted the achievements of the India, especially in the area of Science and Technology, Space exploration,IT pharmaceutical and Non-Conventional Source of Energy. He also emphasized on achieving the excellence and India becoming the world leader in all spheres.

He shared his vision of India becoming a developed nation by 2047 i.e. 100th year of independence of the country. He advised the teaching community to be a role model for bringing the change and expressed his appreciation for the good work being done by the NITTTR, Chandigarh.

Prof. (Dr.) GLD Wickramasinghe, Director-General, CPSC Manila, Philippines, distributed the academic awards to the meritorious students of M. Tech. (Modular and Regular) students of the institute. During his address Prof. (Dr.) GLD Wickramasinghe highlighted the significant contribution of CPSC Manila, Philippines in the area of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) of its member countries and assured continuous collaboration and support to NITTTR, Chandigarh in the International Programmes on various themes. The Governor launched the educational video film produced by NITTTR, Chandigarh in Hindi.

Prof. (Dr.) MP Poonia, Professor, MNIT, Jaipur and Former Vice Chairman, AICTE, New Delhi, appreciated the contribution of the employees who were given awards for their best performance during year 2022-23. He highlighted the role of NITTTR system in effective implementation of NEP-2020, especially in the area of developing the Curriculum and Instructional Material in the local languages so that students can understand and apply the concepts in the problem-solving and develop higher orders critical thinking.

Prof. (Dr.) BR Gurjar, Director of the Institute presented Annual Report of the institute for the year 2022-23 highlighting the outstanding achievements made by the institute in the areas of (1) Human Resource Development (2) Curriculum Development (3) Instructional Material (4) Research and Consultancy and (5) Extension services. He appreciated the contribution made by the faculty and staff of the institute for the outstanding achievements.

On 56th Annual Day of NITTTR, Chandigarh, Governor advised teaching community to be a role model for bringing the change. Prof. (Dr.) Niraj Bala, Professor & Head, EDIC Department anchored the programme and  Dr. Meenakshi Sood, Associate Professor, CDC, proposed the formal vote of thanks.
