Orientation Programme for new students at Modi College

Patiala-Two day orientation programme was organized at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala at the commencement of the new academic session 2018-19. The objective of this well-designed introductory programme was to facilitate the smooth induction of new entrants in the college. Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, College Principal welcomed and congratulated the students for choosing Modi College for their higher studies. He said that in current highly competitive global scenario, it is crucial to choose a good institution. He said that Modi College is committed to promote the fundamental values of higher education and believes in developing students as future leaders.

Vice Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Baljinder Kaur while addressing the students said that it is important for every student to behave in a disciplined way. She told that any type of Ragging, indecent behavior and threats to each other should be immediately reported to the teachers. She also advised the students to regularly contribute for the college magazine ‘The Luminary’.

Prof. Shailendra Sidhu informed the students about the ‘Women Cell’ of the college and its role. Prof. Ved Parkash, Dean Students’ Welfare and NCC in charge of the college discussed the importance of NCC wing of the College, Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Dean Sports and Head Department of Punjabi and Nishan Singh, Head, Sports Department explained the achievements of the college students in the field of sports. Dr. Ashwani Sharma discussed with the students the relevance of sciences in today’s world. Dr. Rajeev Sharma and Dr. Sanjay informed the students about the various research activities and projects of Science Department. Prof. Vinay Garg, Head, Dept of Computer Science discussed the Student Information System, functioning in the college. Dr. Ajit Kumar, Registrar of the College explained the academic calendar, pattern of house examinations and eligibility criteria for appearing in final exams. Dr. Ganesh Sethi, Deputy Registrar talked about various scholarships schemes, Prof. Harmohan Sharma, NSS Programme Officer informed about various clubs and societies functioning in the college. Prof. Rohit Sachdeva, Placement Officer of the college informed the students about functioning of the placement cell.

The students participated in all the sessions. All faculty members and staff were present on this occasion.
