Padma Vibhushan Awardee Editor summoned by Punjab vigilance bureau

Punjab vigilance bureau (VB) had initiated an inquiry into allegations of alleged misuse of funds during execution of multi-crore Jang-e-Azadi Memorial situated in Kartarpur, 18-km from Jalandhar district headquarters.
In continuation to this, as per sources, Punjab Vigilance Bureau has summoned media baron and Padam Vibushan awardee Barjinder Singh Hamdard-Editor of Ajit Group of News paper for investigation into Jang E Azadi monument. He is associated with the project since its planning in 2012.Vigilance Bureau has asked him appear of May 29,2023.
Barjinder Singh Hamdard, had already resigned from the post of memorial foundation’s member secretary and president of its managing committee in April 2023.
Sprawled in 25 acres of land, Jang-e-Azadi Memorial situated in Kartarpur, 18-km from Jalandhar district headquarters, the mega project was started during ten year SAD-BJP tenure , which dubbed it as their dream project. Dedicated to heroes of freedom struggle, the total estimated cost was Rs 315 crore
