Panjab University and University of the Fraser Valley, Canada to start global program initiatives

In order to initiate global program initiatives, University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), Canada and Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh today discussed modalities for joint degree program of the two leading Universities of India and Canada. The two Universities have agreed to formulate rules and regulations for the joint degree, which should be harmonious with applicable regulations administered by UGC and Education Quality Assurance (EQA) in India and British Columbia, Canada respectively.

Today, two senior academic leaders from UFV—Dr. James Mandigo, Provost and Vice President Academic, and Mr. David McGuire, Associate Vice President, International met PU senior officers’ at PU Campus to explore new opportunities for collaboration.

The UFV delegation met with senior leaders from Panjab University, including Professor (Dr.) Yojna Rawat, newly appointed Dean of University Instruction, to discuss advancing a joint vision focused on global programs and innovation including a joint degree program. Professor Rawat encouraged these joint ventures on the campus for better opportunities for PU students. Prof Meenakshi Goyal, newly appointed Director, Research and Development Cell, Professor Sanjeev Sharma IQAC Director, Prof. Gaurav Verma, Director CIL and Dr Vineet Punia, Director Public Relations also discussed new opportunities with the delegation.

Both the Universities also discussed developing a dedicated start-up accelerator and global program initiatives that will enable the mobility of students and welcome international learners to the Panjab University campus. The detailed aspects of the process for executing the dual degree programme between the two universities were thoroughly discussed and are in final stage. These efforts aim to deepen the partnership between the institutions and strengthen the connections between the communities they serve.

Earlier, Professor Kewal Krishan, Dean, International Students, welcomed the guests at the University and initiated the discussion on a joint vision of PU and UFV, with the proceedings being enlivened by PU Vice Chancellor Professor Renu Vig.

Prof. Krishan said that the two Universities share a long-standing partnership rooted in academic collaboration, research, and student mobility. This relationship, which began in 2004, continues to thrive through shared initiatives that promote innovation and global engagement, he added.
