Patiala Administration organises Workshop on POCSO, Child Safety and Social Media Awareness for School Principals

In a proactive step towards safer and more informed educational spaces, a workshop on “Creating Safe Learning Environments: Understanding POCSO and the Influence of Social Media” was held today for principals and counsellors of government and private schools across Patiala district.
Chief Minister Field Officer Satish Chandra, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, reiterated the Punjab Government’s commitment to child safety and digital awareness in schools. The event was organized under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav and the aegis of the District Child Protection Unit, with active participation from educators and child welfare experts.
Expert training was provided by Dr. Damanjit Kaur Sandhu, Head of Psychology Department, Punjabi University, and Dr. Naina Sharma, Associate Professor, Centre for Distance and Online Education, who shared key insights on the psychological and social aspects of child protection and media influence.
District Child Protection Officer Roopwant Kaur thanked dignitaries, speakers, and participants for their dedication to building safe, inclusive, and responsive learning environments.
The workshop encouraged open dialogue, legal awareness, and practical strategies for early intervention and student support, marking another milestone in the Punjab Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen child protection mechanisms and promote holistic education across the state.
