Patiala Central Jail Supdt suspended for arranging unlawful meeting

Punjab Jail Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today suspended Patiala Central Jail superintendent Jaspal singh for arranging an illegal meetings and VIP treatment being given to Punjab Police suspended Inspector General of Police Paramraj Singh Umranangal with some persons.
Randhawa in a communiqué said no leniency will be allowed in performing duty by any official. As per the information Jail Superintendent allowed a meeting on March 2.
“We have suspended the jail superintendent and called for an explanation from senior jail officials,” he said. Paramraj singh Umranangal is in judicial remand and is lodged at Patiala Central Jail for Kotakpura firing incident.
Inspector General of Jails Roop Kumar investigated the allegations and inspected the entry register of Patiala Central jail and found that no entries were made in the jail meeting register. Also the Jails department has allowed two of his personal security gunmen, attached with the IG before his arrest, in the Central Jail against the Punjab Jail Manual. Randhawa said it’s totally unacceptable and violation of Jail manual.
Suspended Patiala Central Jail Superintendent Jaspal Singh will report to ADGP (Jail) during his suspension period. Deputy Superintendent Patiala Central Jail Gurcharan singh will take charge as Patiala Central jail.
