Patiala crosses wheat procurement target -873019 MT procured; 524661 MT wheat lifted;Rs. 1804.37 crores paid-DC

In a major achievement, district Patiala has crossed the target fixed for wheat procurement during this current season. 873019 MT has been procured till yesterday whereas the target for the current season was 624470 MT.

Hailing the role of farmers in making great contributions towards wheat production and the food security of the country, Deputy Commissioner, Patiala Sakshi Sawhney said that on the directions of the Punjab Govt and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to ensure procurement of every grain that comes to the Mandi, Team Patiala has surpassed the previous record of wheat procurement, which is a matter of pride.

It is pertinent to mention that this year 248549 MT more wheat has been procured compared to last rabi season.

Sakshi Sawhney also said that it was ensured that the farmers get the payment of procured wheat within 48 hours of purchase and for that, Rs. 1804.37 crores has already been paid to farmers.

It is also worth mentioning that out of the total arrival in the mandis, 98 % of wheat has been procured by state agencies and Pvt purchase has been only 22580 MT.

Divulging agency-wise details she said that PUNGRAIN leads the procurement with 285573 MT of purchase. MARKFED, Punsup and Punjab state warehousing corporation (PSWC) agencies have procured 210346 MT,194175 MT, and 152320 MT wheat respectively. She also said that out of the total purchase 524661 MT of wheat has already been lifted. A record 40391 MT of wheat was lifted in a single day yesterday.
