Patiala Divisional Commissioner issues decree to deputy commissioners

Commissioner Patiala Division Chander Gaind has taken another step to streamline the functioning of the revenue department in his jurisdiction.

In this regards, Gaind has written a letter to the deputy commissioners of Patiala, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Fatehgarh sahib, Ludhiana, Barnala to ensure that an information board must be placed outside the office of the sub divisional magistrates (SDMs) and sewa kendras under their jurisdiction having details of the revenue staff .

As per the divisional commissioner directions to the deputy commissioners the information board must have the office address, telephone number of the Patwaris, so that public won’t be harassed in future. As of now the residents don’t know where their area Patwari is available.

In a letter issued by the Patiala divisional commissioner to the deputy commissioners, it has been said that “the deputy commissioners to instruct the patwaris to remain in office from 9 am to 11 am to attend the public and do their work. Every Patwari must leave his office after 11 am for any field visits.”

Gaind instructed the DCs to send the implementation report within two days.

It has also been ordered by the Patiala divisional commissioner that transparency should be brought in the office work and action should be taken to deal with the grievances of the people in a transparent manner on priority basis.

He said “the corruption will be rooted out to provide corruption-free, transparent, responsible, accountable and easy accessible governace at Tehsil level to the common people.”
