In a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability and responsible leaf waste management, Patiala Foundation today inaugurated a Community Dry Leaf Composter (DLC) at Bir Ji Crematorium Ground, Patiala. This initiative is part of the Foundation’s flagship environmental initiative – Project PRITHVI, and falls under the rollout of the DLC 2.0 campaign, which aims to install 100 Household DLCs and 10 Community DLCs across Patiala.

This particular DLC installation has been carried out under the aegis of SDKS Trust and is generously supported by Jana Small Finance Bank Ltd. as part of their CSR initiative.

The newly installed Community DLC at the crematorium will serve as a model for sustainable disposal and composting of dry leaves, converting them into natural manure that can be used for the upkeep of green spaces. It will also help reduce the harmful practice of burning dry leaves, which is a major contributor to air pollution in urban areas.
