In a significant stride towards enhancing road safety and reducing fatalities caused by head injuries in road accidents, the Patiala Foundation, in collaboration with RTO Patiala, proudly inaugurated its 12th Helmet Bank at the RTO premises today.
The innovative Helmet Bank functions as a lending facility where two-wheeler riders can borrow helmets for their journey and return them after use, similar to a library system. This initiative ensures that individuals who do not own or cannot afford a helmet can still commute safely, thereby addressing a critical gap in road safety.

Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, CEO and Founder of Patiala Foundation, expressed his commitment to road safety during the launch:“We are dedicated to reducing fatalities and injuries due to road accidents. The Helmet Bank initiative is a step forward in making helmets accessible to everyone, ensuring safety remains a priority for all road users. Borrow, use, and return — this simple concept ensures that no rider is left unprotected. Road Safety Month, initiated by the Government of India, serves as a crucial reminder for the community to be more conscious while on the road, prioritizing their own safety.”

The event, organized as part of Road Safety Month 2025, also included an engaging awareness session on the importance of helmet usage and a live demonstration of proper helmet-wearing techniques.

Naman Markan, PCS RTO Patiala, commended the initiative:“The Helmet Bank is a remarkable community-driven solution addressing a critical road safety issue. Such efforts are instrumental in creating a safer environment for everyone on the roads.”
Prominent members of Patiala Foundation, including Harpreet Sandhu and Pawan Goyal, were present at the occasion, along with interns from SPJIMR Mumbai, Pooja Thakkar and Ankur Kambale, who contributed significantly to the success of the event.

The Patiala Foundation extends heartfelt gratitude to its volunteers, members, and partners who consistently support its endeavors. The Helmet Bank, established under the Patiala Foundation’s Project SADAK, underscores the importance of promoting helmet use and fostering responsible road behavior. It is not just a lending facility but also a resource hub for RTO staff, officials, and the general public to raise awareness and educate about road safety practices.
