Patiala gets its second woman DC after 1954

In an administrative reshuffle, today Punjab government has issued a transfer orders on 39 IAS-PCS officers. In this reshuffle, DC Patiala Showkat Ahmad Parrey has been transferred to Bathinda and in his place Dr Preeti Yadav posted as the new deputy commissioner of Patiala.
Preeti Yadav, IAS of 2014 is a BDS doctor and belongs to Alwar, Rajasthan. Her birthday is on September 30.
With the posting of Dr Preeti Yadav IAS as the deputy commissioner of Patiala, she got the honour to become the second woman officer to head this district, since 1954 when PEPSU was merged into Punjab state.
Since the creation of Patiala as a district in 1954, Sakshi Swahney was the first woman officer to be appointed was the DC of Royal City Patiala in April 2022.
Preeti Yadav is an IAS officer of the 2014 batch. She is presently posted as deputy commissioner Rupnagar since April 2022. Before being appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Rupnagar, she served as the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) in Patiala and the Additional Commissioner (Excise) in Patiala.

The Indian State of Punjab was created in 1947, when the partition of India split the former Raj province of Punjab between India and Pakistan.
In 1948, two separate states were created; Punjab included the former Raj province of Punjab, while the princely states of Patiala, Nabha, Jind, Kapurthala, Malerkotla, Faridkot and Kalsia were combined into a new state, the Patiala and East Punjab States Union (PEPSU). Himachal Pradesh was created as a union territory from several princely states and Kangra District. In 1956, PEPSU was merged into Punjab state, and several northern districts of Punjab in the Himalayas were added to Himachal Pradesh.
