Patiala Heritage Festival Kicks Off with Nature Walk, Promoting Environmental Conservation

The Patiala Heritage Festival began today with a Nature Walk, promoting a collective commitment to environmental conservation. Organized at Environment Park, the event was a joint initiative of the Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Punjab, and the District Administration of Patiala.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav formally inaugurated the festival in the presence of a large gathering of city residents and school students. SDM Patiala, Gurdev Singh Dham, the nodal officer for the Nature Walk, was also present.

While participating in the Nature Walk, Dr. Preeti Yadav emphasized that the festival’s primary goal is to preserve heritage and educate future generations about its richness. She highlighted that the environment is an essential part of our heritage, making it fitting to launch the festival with a Nature Walk.

She further stressed the importance of environmental responsibility, urging people to not only plant trees but also nurture them. Encouraging residents to contribute to environmental purity, she advocated for reconnecting with nature for overall well-being and integrating walking into daily routines for a healthier lifestyle. To promote afforestation, she also planted a tree.

Dr. Preeti Yadav extended an open invitation to all Patiala residents and their families to participate in the festival. She shared that the various scheduled events will showcase Patiala’s rich cultural heritage, allowing people of all ages to experience and take pride in their legacy.

The event was attended by Councilor Jasvir Singh Gandhi, Tehsildar Kuldeep Singh, Forest Range Officer Swaran Singh Jawanda, and members of Friends of Environment Park, including Sukhdev Singh Virk, Jaswinder Singh Tiwana, Kartar Singh Sandhu, Ramzan Dhillon, Advocate J.S. Jindu, Dhanwant Rai, Inderjit Singh Nagpal, Vijay Singhi, Dr. Anil Garg, and Advocate Balbir Singh Baling. A large number of students from Government Multipurpose Senior Secondary School, Passey Road, were also present.
