Taking serious note of the increasing wastage of drinking water during the ongoing summer season, Patiala Mayor Kundan Gogia has directed Municipal Corporation officials to take strict action against violators and issue on-the-spot challans to those found wasting water.
The Mayor expressed concern over the common practice of people washing vehicles on streets and outside their homes using running water pipes, leading to the wastage of thousands of litres of clean drinking water. He said such activities also create waterlogging, traffic inconvenience, and unhygienic conditions in residential areas.
Mayor Gogia stated that with rising temperatures, the demand for water has increased sharply, and several areas of the city are already facing water shortage issues. In such circumstances, irresponsible use of water cannot be tolerated.
Appealing to residents, he urged citizens to avoid using pipes for washing vehicles and instead use buckets to conserve water. He also advised people to wash vehicles within their homes rather than on public roads and streets.

The Mayor informed that special Municipal Corporation checking teams will conduct regular inspections across various wards and localities. Strict legal action and heavy fines will be imposed on anyone found violating the directions.
He emphasized that saving drinking water is the collective responsibility of every citizen to avoid a possible water crisis in the future.
