Patiala police booked Reliance official on MC’s complaint; youth congress leader is the contractor

Patiala police on yesterday booked Rahul Dubey, senior functionary of Reliance industries for damaging Patiala municipal corporation property. A FIR has been lodged against Rahul Dubey, official of Reliance Telecom at Kotwali police station, Patiala under section 283 of IPC (whoever, by doing any act, or by omitting to take order with any property in his possession or under his charge, causes danger, obstruction or injury to any person in any public way or public line of navigation), 188 of IPC (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 3 of Prevention of Damage to public property act,1984 (Whoever commits mischief by doing any act in respect of any public property).

As per the Patiala police, officials of the local Municipal Corporation Patiala has lodged a complaint ,about the damaging of public property and digging the newly built road by some private contractor.

It all started when MC ward number 50 councilor Harvinder Singh Nippy wrote a letter to the commissioner Municipal Corporation Patiala and highlighted the digging of newly built roads in his area, without his knowledge, on December 7,2020. Nippy pointed out that “new roads are made in his ward just few months back from CM grants. Some private company is digging the roads at Sheranwala gate area, which falls under his area. He enquired from the MC authorities to know, who has given the permission for this work? If no permission is given, than who is responsible for wastage of public money? He even requested to take strict action against the violators.

MC Patiala official wrote an official letter to the local police to lodge a complaint. The police visited the site and found the roads are dugged. From there the police came to know that the workers use to do the work, in the evening. They punctured the water line and the sewer lines also.

As per information, it came to fore that Sanjeev Sharma, district president youth congress Patiala and husband of ward number 25 councilor is laying the optic fiber at the site. Sharma is working as a contractor for Reliance. He is doing the work, without taking appropriate permission from the concerned authorities.

When contacted Sanjeev Sharma, district president youth congress Patiala, he said “ I had already applied for the permission, around three months back and it was officially received by MC superintending engineer -Sham Lal Gupta.” When requested him to show the receipt, he said “I’ll send you”. But he didn’t send the same.

When contacted Sham Lal Gupta superintending engineer of municipal corporation Patiala said,” how can we give permission to dig the newly built roads? Moreover I had not received any application from the Reliance or Sanjeev Sharma, for seeking permission to dig the newly built road.

As per sources, high drama was witnessed at Kotwali police station, yesterday when the police are registering the case. Aggrieved party insisted that a FIR , not to be lodged against the company official, It may be lodged against the contractor, who is executing the work. But the police finally booked the company official, as per law.
