Patiala police return 70 lost, snatched mobile phones to owners; returns Rs 50 lacs to online fraud victims

As part of a special drive launched by the Patiala police, the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Patiala, Varun Sharma today handed over the 70 lost, stolen or snatched mobiles to their owners.
Accompanied by cyber crime cell officials, SSP Patiala Varun Sharma said in present times mobile phones are important for everyone due to saved data, including contacts, passwords, personal information and personal pictures/videos.
He said the Patiala police have made it a priority to trace lost or stolen phones with the help of technology and hand them over to the owners immediately. Making a special mention of efforts of IT and cyber cell teams for tracking and recovering the mobile phones, the SSP said most of the owners belong to middle class families and each mobile phone is brought by them from their hard earned money.
While Sharma advising people to quickly report to the police about loss of mobile phones, especially smart phones, so that these are not misused by anti-social elements. They must inform their area’s Police Sanjh Kendra and lodge a missing report with the police. And if anybody found any mobile phone, they should also inform the police. Sharma said this would further help the police to take strict action against the miscreants. He also solicited full support of people in making Patiala crime-free and ensuring effective zero tolerance policing.
