Patiala police’s CIA proves its mettle in solving blind murder case; arresting Kharoud group gang members and recovering arms

Today, Varun Sharma IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, in a press communiqué informed that Patiala Police has got another success in its special campaign for arresting gangsters and fugitive criminal persons in order to trace unsolved heinous crime cases registered against them.
During the special operation conducted by Mohammad Sarfaraj Alam, IPS, Superintendent of Police, City, Patiala, Harbir Singh Atwal, PPS, Superintendent of Police, Investigation, Patiala, Sukhamrit Singh Randhawa, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Investigation, Patiala and Inspector Shaminder Singh, Incharge CIA Patiala along with his team members had arrested two gang members of SK Kharoud gang namely “Gurpreet Singh @ Laddi R/o Chaura near Saint Marry Public School PS Sanour and his companion Amritpal Singh @ Amrit R/o Vill. Ranbirpura Korjiwala PS Passiana District Patiala” along with 2 illegal pistols (.30 bore and .32 bore) and 10 rounds. With the arrest of these two persons, blind murder of Deepak Mattu R/o Sant Nagar Morinda District Rupnagar which was committed near Government Press, Patiala, was also got traced. These two persons had committed this murder.
He further informed that CIA Patiala had secret information that the associates of gangsters are ready to carry out a major incident with these illegal arms and ammunitions. Regarding this, while carrying out search operations in the area of PS Sanour, Gurpreet Singh @ Laddi and his companion Amritpal Singh @ Amrit were arrested from Devigarh-Patiala road and two illegal pistols and a motorcycle Hero Deluxe No. PB-11-CN-5485 were also recovered from them. Regarding which a FIR No 10 dated 16.02.2023 U/s 25 (7) & (8) Arms Act 1959 as amended by the Arms Act 2019 PS Sanour District Patiala was registered.
Sharma further informed that Gurpreet Singh @ Laddi is already wanted in 9 police cases of murder and robbery/dacoity as these cases are registered in different police stations of Panchkula, Kurukshetra (Haryana), Rupnagar and Patiala. Gurpreet Singh @ Laddi has been sentenced as convicted by the court. He was on the run for a long time and was wanted in two murder cases of district Patiala, namely (Deepak Mattu murder case FIR No. 12/2023 PS Anaj Mandi Patiala and Deepak Kumar FIR No. 41/2021 PS Urban Estate Patiala). He remained to be one of the close members of SK Kharoud gang. Besides this, he was also a co-accused in different cases of robbery/dacoity who are also accused in Bhinda murder case (in front of Punjabi University Patiala) in march 2022 in FIR No. 38-2022 PS Urban Estate Patiala. Amritpal Singh is also his relative and was involved in criminal activities with him. On dated 31.01.2023, they both had committed murder of Deepak Mattu near Government Press Patiala due to an issue of money exchange. Regarding this, a FIR No. 12 dated 01.02.2023 U/s 302, 34 IPC PS Anaj Mandi Patiala was registered and this blind murder was also traced with the arrest of these two persons.

SSP Patiala informed that these two accused persons namely Gurpreet Singh @ Laddi and Amritpal Singh @ Amrit will be produced in the court and remanded to the police and will be thoroughly investigated regarding the recovered weapons and the cases in which he was required.
