Patiala school defies Punjab govt orders; calls students to school on the pretext of exams

Defying Punjab government orders seems to become a status symbol for private schools in Patiala. Latest in the list who openly flouts the government orders is one of the prestigious school Guru Nanak Foundation Public School, Patiala.

As per available information, the school has called the students for exams. A message is forwarded to the students “As per government orders, school for Classes 4th to 9th and 11th (all streams) will reopen on 8th January 2025.Pre-Board exams for Classes 10th and 12th will commence as per the given schedule, starting from 4th January 2025, with exam timings from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm.”

As per available information, the school has also called the teachers to come to school on January 3,2025 for the preparation of exams.

A parent of Ryan International School, Patiala said ” even the Ryan International School, Patiala has called their teachers to school and instructed them to take online classes from school.”

Even, Mata Gujri School, Devigarh has called the teachers in the school. The head Bhupinder Singh said ” yes we have called the teachers in the school.” He further added that “media should ask the Bhagwant Mann (CM) to order the closure of DEO, DC office,police,  state government offices due to cold weather. Why he (CM) is sclosing the schools and instructing not to call teachers?”

This is not for the first time that the schools are disobeying the government orders. Earlier also the schools had flouted government orders.

When contacted the school Guru Nanak Foundation Public School, Patiala Principal, Jasjeet Kaur Sohi, she didn’t respond to the phone call.

When contacted the Guru Nanak Foundation Public School, Patiala’s  director  Partap Singh, he said “ I have no information. I’ll check it about this from the principal and get back to you. But after that he also didn’t respond to the messages.”

When contacted the deputy district education officer (Dy DEO) Ravinderpal Singh he said “when the government has ordered the closure of all schools be it private, aided, government in the state, who can they call the students for exams. We will definitely check and take suitable action against the management for defying state government orders. Moreover, now or in future nobody is allowed, to flout government orders.”

Last year also the same thing happened and the school called the teachers inspite of holidays.’
