Paramjit Singh Kainth, President of the Alliance condemned the actions of the state government as being anti-scheduled castes and denounced the move as a clear indication of the government to weaken the organizational structure and powers of the Commission in Punjab.

Govt. apathetic towards the Scheduled Castes Community – Kainth

Kainth said “The State Government has been unable to appoint Chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission and there are no positive signs of that happening anytime soon. The atrocities and indiscrimination met against the scheduled castes community has raised to an alarming number under this current regime and through this amendment, the state government instead of performing its due duties is indulging instead in reducing the strength of the organizational structure of the commission.”

The National Scheduled Castes Alliance warned the State government over its apathetic attitude towards the Scheduled Castes community and urged it to pursue policies and agendas which shall reduce the public dissent rather than increase it.
