Peculiar situation for PSPCL staff; director to peon still under hostage; not allowed to leave office

Today staff posted at Punjab state power corporation limited head office is facing a tough situation.

Till time, the staff of the Punjab state power corporation limited, posted in its head office in Patiala has been made hostage by the Powercom & Transcom contractual employees union. The staff includes Director Finance Jatinder Goyal, Director commercial Gopal Sharma, Director Generation Paramjit Singh along with chief engineers, SE’s, xen’s, non technical, office staff, who are still inside their offices and were not allowed to leave.

Powercom & Transcom contractual employees union has closed all the entry points of the head office. They sat in front of the head office, along with their family members and are not allowing anyone to leave the office. Earlier they locked up the female staff also. But in the evening, they allowed the female staff to leave.

Powercom & Transcom contractual employees union is of Complaint Handling Bikes (CHB) staff, hired by the Powercom and Transcom to handle the complaints of the consumers.

“Earlier in the day the union leaders held a meeting with the Punjab state power corporation limited CMD A Venu Prasad, Director Administration RP Pandove along with other leaders, at Mohali. The meeting failed and the union members have decided to lay a siege outside the head office of the powercom” said division president Jasbir Singh, who along with others sat on dharna outside PSPCL head office.

Another member of the union said” we are here along with our family members, children to raise our voice against the Powercom and Transcom decision to shunting out the complaint handling bikes (CHB) members, to issue work orders and issue employment letter to the union member family members who died while performing the duty or got major causality while working on job. Around 150 members have either died or got up to 90 percent causality while working in the field.”

One of the member said “Barnala circle didn’t issue work order from the last eleven months. Some circles are not paying us salaries. PSPCL management is working in dictatorial way.”

Jasbir Singh, division president said ” Kissan union BKU (ugrahan) has declared support to us”.
