PM Modi clear air on NSA’s appointment before leaving for G7 Summit

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the re-appointment of Ajit Doval as the National Security Advisor (NSA).

During the term of his office, he will be assigned the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Table of Precedence. Terms and Conditions of his appointment will be notified separately.

Earlier speculations were rife that Doval is not interested in continuing as NSA and has asked the PM Modi to relieve him from duty due to health issues.

He has held the position since 30 May 2014. Doval is the fifth National Security Advisor of India. Prior to this, Shivshankar Menon was the National Security Advisor of India.
