Poets Honoured at Kavi Darbar during Hola Mohalla at Gurdwara Sri Paonta Sahib

A grand Kavi Darbar (poets’ gathering) was organized recently at Gurdwara Sri Paonta Sahib in connection with the Hola Mohalla celebrations. During the event, poets from different regions were honoured by Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust.

The event was organized to carry forward the great tradition of Kavi Darbars initiated by Sahib-e-Kamal Sri Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj.

The Managing Trustee of Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi, could not attend the event due to flight disruptions caused by tense conditions in the Gulf region while he was in Dubai. On his behalf, the Trust’s Secretary Gagandeep Singh Ahuja honoured the participating poets with cash awards.

Around 40 poets participated in the Kavi Darbar, including Kulwant Singh Rafique (Shahabad Markanda), Bhagat Singh Bir (Jagadhri), Rachhpal Singh Pal (Jalandhar), Bibi Parvinder Kaur (Patiala), Sukhjeevan Singh Safari (Amritsar), Dilbir Singh Riyad (Jalandhar), Balbir Singh Ball (Morinda), Shubham Mandla (Delhi), Bibi Jatinder Kaur Anandpuri, Shukarguzar Singh (Amritsar), Malkit Singh Nimana (Amritsar), Bibi Jaspreet Kaur (Shillai), Dr. Sukhjinder Kaur Noor (Pathankot), Balbir Singh Kamal (Dasuya), Joginder Singh Umaranangal, Bibi Simran Kaur and Bibi Harpreet Kaur (Paonta Sahib), Dr. Gurdeep Singh Shivpur (Stage Secretary), Kulwant Singh Chaudhary (Paonta Sahib), Bibi Inderjit Kaur, Bibi Amandeep Kaur, Bibi Rajni Kaur (Paonta Sahib), Zamir Ali Zamir (Malerkotla) and Sulakhan Singh (Sunam).

On this occasion, Vice President of the Gurdwara Committee Harbhajan Singh, General Secretary Harpreet Singh, Haryana Gurdwara Committee member Joga Singh and Manager of Gurdwara Sri Paonta Sahib Jagir Singh were also specially present.

Thousands of devotees attended the Kavi Darbar and enjoyed the poetic recitations dedicated to Sikh history and the glory of Sahib-e-Kamal Sri Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj.

For nearly a decade, Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust has been honouring poets by presenting them with cash awards during such events.
