Police DAV Public School Patiala celebrated Baishakhi in full fervour

Baisakhi is a Hindu and Sikh festival. It is celebrated every year on 13th or 14th April. It is celebrated to mark the beginning of Sikh New Year and celebrate Khalsa Panth’s birth. It is celebrated with joy and happiness in Punjab. It is celebrated to mark the harvesting of Rabi Crops.

To mark the occasion, Police DAV Public School Patiala organised a special assembly today. Students of Tulip House and Primary wing participated enthusiastically in it. The programme commenced with the enchantment of school prayer, Gayatri mantra, Shabad and thought for the day. Students of class Nursery to UKG presented a dance performance which mesmerized everyone.

Class 1 & 2 students recited poems on the importance of the festival. Tariza of class 5 delivered a speech to highlight the importance of the day.  Students were dressed up in Punjabi attire and looked stunning.

The school also celebrated Dr B R Ambedkar ‘s birthday, who is regarded as Father of Indian constitution. Lakshmi of class 5 delivered a speech highlighting the contribution of the veteran leader in the freedom struggle and  framing the constitution.

Today, students also remembered Lord Mahavira and seeked his blessings , on his birth anniversary. Jasnoor kaur of class 5 delivered a speech sharing the life history of lord Mahavira and establishment of Jainism.

Students also did Art & Craft activities on this special day. They made colorful wheat plants with paints as decorative pieces. They shared food and happiness with each other.

The  officiating school principal, Sukhjit Kaur, applauded the efforts of the students and staff in celebrating the day. She encouraged everyone to adopt the path of honesty and shun away hypocrisy. She motivated others to take part in such special functions whole heartedly.

The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks from Anjna Kapoor and  Gurpreet Kaur, Supervisor, Primary Wing.
