Power demand in Punjab and northern states takes a sharp dip

With widespread rain across the northern region, the overall power demand dipped by over 20000 MW to 53000 MW from Wednesday’s demand of 73782 MW.
There was a major relief for Punjab State Power Corporation Limited(PSPCL) as the Punjab power demand took a sharp dip of more than 5000 MW on Thursday.
After meeting the record power demand of 14207 MW with a record supply of 3346 lakh units the power demand took a dive of more than 5000 MW reducing the load to less than 9000 MW.
Two thermal units at Lehra Mohabbat and three units at Rupnagar thermal plant were closed down due to less demand, while one thermal unit each at Lehra Mohabbat and Rupnagar is running at a reduced load. Similarly, all the seven thermal units of three private generators were running at half load.
In Haryana also the power demand dipped by more than 6000 MW from Wednesday demand of 12094 MW.All the thermal units in the state was running at half load.
