Powercom Junior Engineers’ on warpath against powercom management for not adhering to their genuine demands

On the call given by the Council of Junior Engineers PSEB, Power Junior Engineers and promoted Engineering Officers across the State today staged Circle level Protest Rallies in front of all PSPCL Circle Offices & equivalent levels at Project sites, despite the fact that most of the JEs/AAEs are engaged in shift duties in the field offices due to ongoing work to rule agitation by certain other employee unions of the PSPCL. This was informed to the press by Er. Davinder Singh, State General Secretary of JEs Council.
Meanwhile, Er. Paramjit Singh Khattra State President and Er. Davinder Singh- State General Secretary of the JEs Council jointly stated that Power Junior Engineers held massive rallies at Patiala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Muktsar, Khanna, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn-Taran, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Nawanshahar, Ropar, Sangrur & many other places and submitted memorandums to their respective PSPCL authorities.
They further said that Power Junior Engineers are perturbed over the inordinate delay in the settlement of their unresolved demands such as release of pending pay revision arrears, restoration of their 9/16 year time bound promotion scale (TBS) i.e. (AE & AEE) granted vide Finance Circular No. 10/16, 2nd TBS of Sr.Xen after 16 years service, Restoration of Special Allowance, enhancement in LTA @60/Litre petrol expenditure per month, enhancement in upper limit of overtime to JEs/Sub-station, Enhancement in promotion avenues ensuring promotion upto Sr.Xen level, PSPCL prevalent Pay scales to employees recruited beyond 17-07-20, Laptops & internet connection for implementing the ERP module in the field offices.
The Council leadership highlighted the huge deficit of manpower particular of Technical Staff to the extent of 65% and poor infrastructure in the field offices, which is seriously impacting the consumer service and also causing much mental stress & hardships to the Power Junior Engineers. They also demanded regular induction of manpower instead of opting of CHB workers like adhoc arrangement, which proved a failed experiment. Further, widespread resentment is also prevailing as field officials/officers are being forced to conduct Power theft raids and supply of even routine information on Sundays & Gazetted Holidays, which is violation of their entitled weekly off days as provided in various relevant statues. They emphasized that maintaining Power Supply system should be the only priority during Sundays & holidays.
In the light of the State Govt. & Power Management’s apathetic and dismissive approach towards their grievances, Power Junior Engineers will hold Zonal level protests from 9th September 2024 to 24th September 2024 at Zonal Head Quarters, followed by a day long protest dharna in front of PSPCL H.Q. the Mall, Patiala by the whole Central Working Committee of the JEs Council.
Powercom Junior Engineers’ on warpath against powercom management for not adhering to their genuine demands. If still no resolution is reached within reasonable time, then JEs Council will not hesitate to further intensify the protests in the coming days.
