Prakash Van –dedicated to 550th celebrations inaugurated by PPCB chairman at TSPL

Reaffirming its commitment towards a green and clean environment Talwandi Saboo Power Limited (TSPL) organised plantation drive within its premises. 550 saplings were planted within its premises, the plant variety ranged from fruit bearing trees to ornamental and medicinal species.
The event also bears a special significance as the plantation site named as ‘Prakash Van’ is dedicated to mark 550th Birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji celebrated in India across the globe.
‘Prakash Van’ was inaugurated by Prof S.S. Marwaha, Chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Board in presence of Vikas Sharma, CEO TSPL.
Prof. Marwah and Vikas Sharma spearheaded the plantation drive by planting saplings as a token of their commitment towards environment upkeep.
Speaking on the occasion Marwah said, “I am pleased to be a part of this plantation drive, plants are natural air purifiers and help in curbing air pollution”. He also stressed upon the need to reduce plastic waste and promote eco-friendly packaging materials for better future.
Vikas Sharma, CEO TSPL, reaffirmed his commitment towards environment and said that“Vedanta is committed to protecting and conserving the environment and shall take appropriate steps towards not only planting trees but also nurturing them, he also expressed his commitment towards community interventions in the nearby villages.”
TSPL has always been committed to environment and is at the forefront when it comes to environment conservation, balancing the ecosystem and bio diversity. Last year also TSPL had contributed 30000 saplings under ‘Mission Tandarust’ a flagship program launched by Chief Minister of Punjab.
TSPL has covered 33% of project area with greenbelt in March, 2017. More than 4 lakhs saplings planted and more than 22 species planted which includes local, medicinal, fruit and ornamental (Seeshum, Burma dek, neem, arjun, Pongamia, shahtoot, Siras, Tun, Chekrasiya, Silver oak, Bottle brush, Pilkhan, Dal-Muth, Gulmohar, Alastonia etc.)
Guinness world record was created in Oct’, 2015 by planting more than 2 lakhs trees at single location with an objective to increase the green cover of Punjab.
