Private schools in Patiala pay no heeds to CM orders; district administration lackadaisical behavior comes fore

Punjab chief minister on Monday, May 20,2024 has ordered the summer vacations in all government, private, aided schools from May 21,2024 to June 30,2024.
Earlier the vacations are going to start from June 1 to June 30,2024 but due to prevailing weather conditions and ongoing heat wave the state government has advanced the summer vacations in all schools.
As private schools in Patiala are famous for defying chief minister, state government orders, has once again proved that they are not bound to obey chief minister’s, government orders.
The schools have called teachers to come to school till the month end. Teachers are still going to schools despite government’s order of summer vacations for all.
These reputed schools of the royal city has planned a parent teachers meeting (PTM) in these days.
Even a reputed school has asked the teachers to come on Friday in full strength to oversee the PTM and blood donation camp arrangements, schedule for Saturday May 25,2024.
Some schools are calling teachers on the pretext of online classes for all students, irrespective of their class.
A teacher of reputed school said “ our school management has called us to come to school till the last working day of this month. We have no choice but to follow their instructions. The school management has even not released our Covid time pending salaries whereas they have collected it from the students. In this case no teacher is ready to ask school management to not to defy govt orders.”
Another teacher said “ its not a rocket science to check the presence of teachers in the school. The authorities can come and check the attendance register, CCTV footage, parking areas, if they really want. But, the administration calls the principal and they simply convey that no teachers are called and befooled the administration. Moreover these are reputed schools and management have links in political, administrative circles. So the administration avoids to take strict action against them. ”

When contacted the deputy district education officer , Patiala, Ravinderpal Singh, he said “I will look into it as it’s a matter of concern if the private schools are defying the government orders. I’ll bring this into the notice of DEO and send a report to the district administration .”
