More than 20 senior doctors of Indian Medical Association in Patiala including renowned veteran surgeon and former DRME (Director Research and Medical Education) Punjab Dr Ajmer Singh, renowned city physician Dr Janak Sachdeva, retired principals of Government Medical College Patiala Dr BL Bhardwaj and Dr BS Sidhu, former PSMDTA president and paediatric surgeon Dr Janak Arora, former presidents of IMA Patiala Dr Rakesh Arora and Dr Ajata Shatru Kapoor, IMA Punjab Vice President Dr Bhagwant Singh, Dr Ajit Singh Puri, senior neurologist Dr Harminder Singh, senior child specialist Dr KG Goyal, president and honorary secretary of IMA Patiala Dr Neeraj Goyal and Dr Nidhi Bansal, Dr Ardaman Singh, Dr AS Grover, Dr SPS Narula, Dr Surinderpal Singh and others have appealed to the Chief Minister Punjab Capt. Amrinder Singh and Member of Parliament Parneet Kaur to accept the NPA demand of the agitating government doctors without any delay so that health and medical services resume to the normal in the state.
Meanwhile Punjab State Medical and Dental Teachers Association has declared total shut down of OPD and operation theatre services in Government Medical and Dental Colleges in Patiala and Amritsar on Monday (August 2) along with teaching of medical dental students for the whole day.
Protesting doctors got shot in the arm; veteran, senior doctors appeal to CM to roll back his decision. The medical dental faculty has also decided not to do any administrative duties on this day.
The doctors will organise a protest rally outside the office of Director Principal of Government Medical College in Patiala after the general body meeting that day.
Ten faculty members from Chest and TB hospital and paediatric department of medical college today sat on protest for three hours as a part of the indefinite daily protest and deferring of hospital services in Rajindra Hospital.
According to Dr DS Bhullar, state General Secretary of PSMDTA, the association has decided to further intensify the agitation if the NPA demand is not solved by the government within the next week.
